    • Abstract:
      On a worldwide scale, there is a common wave of change towards embracing renewable energy sources which are often integrated in the power system as distributed generation (DG) units. The environmental benefits are usually pushed to the forefront. However, ongoing research on the increasing integration of DGs in the traditional distribution network has demonstrated that they can contribute to some improvements on the network but they can also create unprecedented technical issues. In this paper, the impact on the voltage has been studied and it has been demonstrated that the hosting capacity of the network can be increased if the rooftop photovoltaic DGs are optimally located in the network instead of random installation, as is the current approach in Mauritius.
